Job Description:

Callahan Financial Planning, an affiliate of TS Banking Group, is seeking to hire a Tax Manager. This role is responsible for leading the tax planning and preparation of tax documents for clients. Experience interacting with high net worth individuals and families. The individual will be well versed in tax preparation, and advisement. Leading tax season that will consult, guide and advise clients with their personal and family tax needs and strategies to minimize tax burdens.

Preferred education and/or experience includes: Possess a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited university or institution with the major area of study in Accounting, business, Economics, or finance preferred.

This role is posted in several markets with the intention of hiring one individual. 

Experience and Skills:

  • Provide consultative services to clients that build relationships and ensure high level of client service.
  • Performing current and multi-year tax planning for clients to proactively find opportunities to reduce income taxes.
  • Collaborating with and presenting tax data for client and financial planning colleagues to inform their holistic financial situation and decision making.
  • Promote and direct business development for tax services and TS Banking Group services for clients.
  • Nurture relationships with clients on behalf of TS Banking Group including: Assist and support other financial planning staff members and perform duties as assigned by supervisor, work and lead a small team collaboratively, assist in the ongoing compilation of financial statements, reports and income tax returns, and lead creative problem solving by studying rules and laws affecting our industry and clients
  • Be involved in the tax compliance and tax planning functions; make recommendations to improve profit.
  • Support the training and knowledge development of team members to ensure high quality, proactive tax planning services.
  • Preparing and reviewing state and federal income tax returns for clients.
  • Prepare tax provisions, tax returns, tax reporting and transfer pricing documentation
  • Assist and oversee tax audits, working with all business functions to support tax positions
  • Promote good client relations by providing prompt and courteous service on all inquiries received.
  • Document and articulate the tax control framework and procedures that ensure accurate tax reporting
  • Review corporate and personal tax returns
  • Ability to perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all banking and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees of company and the general public. Must possess good communication skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to operate the following: telephone, personal computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs. Advanced PC knowledge beneficial.
